If you would like to begin a new journey with MINI, we have some pretty enticing options that await you on the road ahead. This website will outline your available choices and walk you through the steps to make your lease maturity process as simple as possible.

The Lease Maturity process for your MINI is simple. To ensure things run smoothly, there are a few simple steps you’ll have to complete. Below is a personalized event timeline that we’ve created to notify you of these important dates and requirements.

If you haven’t been contacted yet, reach out to your MINI Retailer directly to book a pre-inspection. Also, please let them know if you want to keep your current MINI, or if you’re interested in a new one. Approximately 180–120 days before your lease matures, you can expect a call from your MINI Retailer as a reminder that your lease maturity date is approaching. Take this opportunity to come into your MINI Retailer for a pre-inspection and to let them know if you are looking to keep your current MINI or if you are interested in a new one.

If you haven’t been contacted yet, please get in touch with AutoVIN Canada directly to arrange your appointment for a brief vehicle inspection. This inspection can be completed at any location that is convenient to you. Approximately 75 days before your lease expires, you can expect a call from our preferred inspection company, AutoVIN Canada, to arrange an appointment for a brief vehicle inspection. The inspection can be completed anywhere you choose, including your home or office.

VEHICLE INSPECTION

If you have not made an appointment to have your MINI inspected, please contact AutoVIN Canada to arrange one immediately. After AutoVIN Canada evaluates the condition of your MINI, a Vehicle Inspection Report will be available online within 48 hours of the physical inspection, outlining the condition of your vehicle. If your vehicle requires any repairs or maintenance, you are strongly encouraged to have the work completed prior to the vehicle turn-in date. To ensure all repairs or maintenance are completed properly, please visit your authorized MINI Retailer.

Please note that if you have purchased MINI Financial Services Excess Wear & Use Protection with your MINI vehicle, this process has been simplified for you. Upon completion of your vehicle inspection by AutoVIN Canada, please contact one of our Lease Maturity Specialists at 1-866-DRV-MINI 1-866-DRV-MINI to see if any chargeable items will be taken care of by your Excess Wear & Use Protection coverage.

RETURN YOUR VEHICLE

Your MINI must be returned to your MINI Retailer on or before this date. Please book an appointment with your MINI Retailer to have your vehicle’s condition and maintenance history reviewed as soon as possible. Your MINI vehicle must be returned to your MINI Retailer before or on the lease maturity date. Please schedule your appointment with your Retailer in advance to review your vehicle’s condition and confirm all necessary maintenance and/or repairs have been made. Please ensure that both sets of keys, owner’s manual, vehicle accessories (as applicable) and original copy of ownership (Province of Alberta only) are returned with the vehicle, as required. Once confirmed, you and your Retailer will sign a Vehicle Return Confirmation Form to complete the vehicle turn-in process. You may also settle any applicable excess wear and use charges at this time.

Not ready to part ways with your current MINI just yet? We completely understand. With this option, your journey can continue when you re-lease your current vehicle. It’s been a great ride for you so far, so why not keep it going? If you’re looking to re-lease, contact your MINI Retailer and speak to a MINI Financial Services advisor about the many re-leasing terms and options available.

OPTION 4:

RETURN YOUR CURRENT MINI.

If you plan to embark on new adventures without MINI, please start by referring to the Wear and Use Overview section to evaluate your current MINI’s condition. You can also bring your MINI into your MINI Retailer for a pre-inspection. A MINI Service advisor will assess your vehicle’s condition and determine if any maintenance or repair work has to be completed prior to the lease maturity date.

Please be aware that you must book an appointment with your MINI Retailer to return your MINI prior to the lease maturity date. On the return date, you and your Retailer will sign a Vehicle Return Confirmation form to complete the process. You may also settle any applicable excess wear and use charges on this date.

Your MINI Financial Services Vehicle Condition Evaluator will help you to determine what is considered acceptable or unacceptable on the exterior of your MINI. Any unacceptable damage will be considered chargeable.

The interior of your MINI is subject to chargeable damages if unacceptable wear and use is found.

WHEELS.

Prior to returning your MINI, use your MINI Financial Services Vehicle Condition Evaluator to make sure all wheels and tires are in acceptable condition. Be aware that any unacceptable damage or modifications are considered chargeable.

Mechanical, Electrical and Accessories.

Please be aware that any non-functional electrical components or missing equipment that is standard for your MINI vehicle are considered chargeable.

  • Cracked or punctured bumpers.

GLASS AND LAMPS

  • Minor scratches and bull’s-eyes (without any associated cracks) that are outside of the driver’s wiper arc, less than 1/2", and do not distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road (up to two occurrences);

  • Repairs that do not distort the driver’s view of the road;

  • Surface chips in driver’s wiper arc.

  • Windshield replacement with substandard glass (non-OEM quality/missing rain sensor/not Heads-Up Display compatible, if equipped);

  • Windshield that has been polished to remove damage;

  • Star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are larger than 1/2";• Any star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are within the driver’s wiper arc, regardless of size;

  • Any condition that prevents issuance of a valid inspection certificate in the province where the vehicle is returned;

  • Any repair with detectable cracks, regardless of size, that distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road;

  • Puncture that results in water penetration.

FRAME AND UNIBODY

  • Damage that does not affect the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody;

  • Repairs using manufacturer’s recommended methods that restore the vehicle to original specification (consult a MINI Retailer for a Certified Collision Repair Centre);

  • Minor scrapes, gouges, or dents to the frame or unibody.

  • Repairs that do not restore the frame or unibody to manufacturer’s specifications;

  • Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);

  • Damage that affects the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody (e.g., buckled unibody, torn metal channel, kinked radiator support);

  • Any sheet metal damage to rocker panels.
